Sarah Ndagire
Sarah Ndagire’s desire to share her culture has taken her around the world.
Born in Uganda, the singer-songwriter has performed and given workshops in locales across the globe, including the U.S., England, Germany, Austria and Trinidad and Tobago.
“Creativity has always been part of me,” she said
Her artistic journey recently resulted in a move to Dubuque, where Ndagire already is working to make a mark.
She founded the Afriwell Hub. The nonprofit organization secured a city grant and is launching African Vibes, which will celebrate African culture through music, dancing, art, food and other elements.
The first event, focused on East African culture, will be held on Sunday, April 27, at Bluff Strokes Art Center, 1201 Locust St.
“It’s a chance to get introduced to another culture,” Ndagire said. “You have a chance to try instruments, hear different language, eat different food, meet different people. It’s amazing.”
