Claudette Bees

Claudette Bees has been involved with the Multicultural Family Center for a number of years. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2013.  Claudette is an Assistant Principal at Hempstead High School where she taught mathematics for several years. As an educator, Ms. Bees has served on the Education Committee and the Freedom Fund Committee with the NAACP to advance educational opportunities for the youth of Dubuque. She also serves on faces&voices – the committee that plans the Dr. Martin Luther Jr. King Breakfast. She is a strong believer in equality for all and desires to see underprivileged youth served with dignity and honor. She believes that ALL people matter. This is one impetus that drives her involvement at the Center.  As a Black from another country, she understands the struggles that one might face in a new environment. Culture is all around us and should be embraced at every opportunity. She believes that the more we know of others and their cultures the better we understand them. This might lead to us better supporting each other.
