Scott Theisen

Scott Theisen has been on the board of the Multicultural Family Center since 2013. As a Dubuque native, Scott is inspired by the greatness in the community and saddened by the discrimination and marginalization that still persists. It’s heart-breaking to him that some people in the community feel that they don’t matter simply because they are a minority, especially the children. He knows Dubuque can do better and wants to be part of making things better for all in the community. His involvement in the MFC is rooted in this passion for social equity, his love for multiculturalism, and his belief that all are one family -- one tribe; and that humanity just hasn’t awakened yet to that reality. He believes that the MFC is courageously working to facilitate this awakening and is honored to be part of a team committed to unity, equality and the celebration of diversity. Outside of the MFC, Scott is a business owner, mind-body-spirit teacher, community-builder and father of two adult sons. He was a licensed counselor and spiritual psychotherapist for twenty-two years. Creating and running transformational programs and businesses with his wife Julia brings him great fulfillment.
