Chris was born in Waterloo  and lived in Iowa until he was 16, when his family moved to New York.  He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1982.  While there, he studied engineering and was also the Captain of the wrestling team.  After graduation,  Chris served in the Army for 5 years.   Chris earned an MBA  from the University of California,  Berkeley in 1990, and then worked for Ford Motor Company until  2005,  where he was Chief Engineer of Asia Pacific Exports.  In 2006,  Chris relocated back to Iowa to work as Engineering Manager at John Deere.  Chris is married (Julie)  with 2 children  (Ashlynn and Colin)  who are both currently in college.  Chris has been on the Board of the MFC since 2014.  His  primary passion is to encourage  under-represented youth to pursue educational and economic opportunities similar to those that he has had,  and achieve their goals in life.
